I am writing to announce that my first tour in office as Dean officially ends on Sunday 27th, November 2016. Gladly our request to hold Deanship elections on the 25th November 2016 has been approved by the Vice Chancellor. Accordingly, the elections will be held on this date at the QC Boardroom in Kikuyu Campus. You are all welcome to participate in making the decision on the leadership of the school for the next two years. Nomination papers for staff who are interested in running for Deanship can be collected from the Dean’s office.

A section of the Deparment of Educational Communication and Technology academic staff today attended training on Turnitin and ORCID. The training was organised by the College of Education and External Studies, UoN Library and ICT Centre. In line with the University of Nairobi's Plagiarism policy, all academic staff will be required to use the Turnitin antiplagiarism software during supervision of postgraduate students to monitor levels of plagiarism in the student's and their own research works, a reason that necissitated the training. The staff will use the ORCID tool to connect to other researchers from other institution and funders. The rest of the academic staff will attend the training tomorrow, Friday, 12/6/2016.

The Centre for Pedagogy and Andragogy (CEPA) held a consultative meeting today with the teaching staff in the Department of Educational Communication and Technology. During the meeting the CEPA Director, Prof. P. O. O. Digolo briefed the department's teaching staff on the activities of the Centre. He alluded the University Management's recognition that the Department of Educational Communication and Technology has the expertise in pedagogy & andragogy and will play a pivotal role in facilitating the activities of CEPA. Details on the development of a University of Nairobi pedagogical training model for higher education teaching staff among other issues were discussed. The Chairman, ECT welcomed the collaboration plans and appealed to the members of staff to support CEPA, which is a brain-child of the department.
