I am writing to announce that my first tour in office as Dean officially ends on Sunday 27th, November 2016. Gladly our request to hold Deanship elections on the 25th November 2016 has been approved by the Vice Chancellor. Accordingly, the elections will be held on this date at the QC Boardroom in Kikuyu Campus. You are all welcome to participate in making the decision on the leadership of the school for the next two years. Nomination papers for staff who are interested in running for Deanship can be collected from the Dean’s office.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful job you did in the last two years to change the face of the school. Without your unparalleled support, we would not have made the undisputable strides currently seen everywhere in the school. These include, among others high quality research and publications, cutting-edge academic programmes, staff promotions, recruitment of new staff, and development of our junior staff (notably 5 new PhDs among our staff), and realization of infrastructural projects that had stalled (Car park and Restaurant) which are crucial welfare to staff.

It is in this spirit and in humility that I share my decision to run for Deanship again for a second term. I trust your support and your vote will be most welcome and appreciated. In the next two years, my agenda number one remains staff development and welfare, research consultancies, and partnerships, development of new curricula among others that I shall share in due course.

Sincerely,

Prof. Winston J. Akala

Dean, School of Education
