The Faculty of Education hosted the World Wetlands Day at Kikuyu Campus on 4th February 2022. The multi-agency event was graced by various government organisations involved with wetland conservation as well as Friends of Ondiri Swamp which is a Wetland area near Kikuyu Campus.
During his welcoming remarks, the Dean, Faculty of Education Prof. Isaac Jumba welcomed everyone to the Campus and talked about the importance of conserving our environment. There were presentations from various arms of the government including NEMA, Kenya Forest Research Institute, Kiambu County Government among others.
The agents present pledged to work together towards sustainable conservation of wetland areas in the country. There was a question and answer session where members interacted with panelists as they highlighted the key issues affecting conservation of Wetlands.
The event was used to educate the public on the importance of conserving Wetlands and their importance to the ecosystem.
