University of Nairobi participated in the 55TH International Literacy Day on 28th September 2021. The World literacy day is celebrated in the month of September Globally. This years theme was “Literacy for a Human- Centered Recovery: Narrowing the Digital Divide” Kiswahili version “Kujinusuru Dhidi ya Majanga Kupitia Masomo ya Kidijitali Kwa Wote”.
The University was represented by by Anne Aseey PhD-Chairman, Department of Educational and Distance Studies, Faculty of Education. The event was held at Ewuaso Kedong, Kajiado County was graced by among others the governor of Kajiado Hon. Joseph Ole Lenku.
The Occasion witnessed a graduation ceremony for 100 Adult learners with the oldest being 62 years old. The graduands mostly from the Maasai community were awarded certificates in proficiency and literacy skills in line with UNESCO objectives of this year’s celebration of sharing knowledge and experiences regarding inclusive and quality digital literacy. The Faculty of Education, UoN offers Adult Education courses.
