The university of Nairobi in collaboration with the University of Helsinki- Finland
launched the Centre for Educational Research and Evaluation.
The centre aims at nurturing and strengthening the research culture here in Kenya.
This is a great step especially for the new competency based curriculum(CBC) which
encourages learners to be innovative through mediums like research.
In attendance was the UoN VC represented by the DVC AA Prof. Julius Ogeng'o. He
expressed his joy in seeing the launch of the research centre after almost 40 years.
He acknowledged the importance of research and the collaboration the centre has
brought between different faculties of the university.
The chief guest CS Education was represented by Dr Daniel Karanja, State
Department of Higher Education and Research. In his remarks he was keen to
emphasise on the importance of research. The centre will help drive the agenda for
research as advocated for by the government
The prestigious event was crowned by the grand opening of the research centre
which is based at the Kenya Science Campus.
