The Context:
Following the Senate resolutions that all teaching & learning be migrated to online platforms in the face of Covid-19 pandemic, the following platforms are approved for use in teaching and learning:
- Zoom
- Google Classroom
- Big Blue Button
–Blackboard
The University of Nairobi suspended Face–to-face learning on March 16th 2020 following a presidential directive to close all learning institutions to contain the spread of Corona Virus. The University resolved to move most of the operations online to facilitate staff to carry out teaching and Administrative functions. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof.
University of Nairobi, Office of Career Services held a career counselling training session with College student leaders to enable students and graduates recognize and understand themselves and the job market so as to come to a resolve on career, life and educational choices.
Over 5000 scholarships are now available to outstanding students and scholars from Africa annually. These fully sponsored scholarships include short courses, undergraduate, postgraduate and PhDs that are funded by the Turkish government and coordinated by a government agency YTB.
The University of Nairobi ranks best University in the country and East African Region in the January 2020 edition of the Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics Ranking).
Every year; the University of Nairobi joins the world in Observing the International World Aids Day. This year, Staff and students from the College of Education and External Studies participated in the various activities organized by the university to mark the World AIDS Day on Friday; November 29, 2019 under the theme: Communities makes the difference.
College of Education and external studies students taking Geography are en route to Kericho, Kisumu and Kakamega for a Geographical field study of the lake basin led by Dr. Shadrach kithiia and Mr. John WakaJummah. The field trip is part of requirement for students’ pursuing bachelors’ of Education Arts at the school of Education.
