UoN@50 Campaign: Community Outreach activity (HGM Kinoo)

The College of Education and External Studies (CEES) is celebrating the University of Nairobi's 50th Anniversary! The University launched the #UONat50 campaign (1970-2020) to celebrate 50 years of academic excellence. As part of the campaign, CEES organized a Community outreach activity at the HGM Primary and Secondary Kinoo Schools in Kiambu County on Thursday 24th June 2021.

The College donated 5 balls for various ball games, storybooks and novels, and sanitary towels.  The CSR activity was coordinated by the Chairman, Department of Educational Studies, Dr. Anne Aseey, and Chairman, Department of Physical Education and Sport Dr. Simon Munayi. The items were received by the School Principal; Mrs. Josephine Kirubi.  Mrs. Kirubi thanked the College for the donations and encouraged students to strive to join the University of Nairobi in future.

Dr. Aseey gave a motivational talk where she explained the various academic programs offered at the University of Nairobi. She implored the Form one students to work very hard to meet the requirements to join the University in 2024.

The College has a long-standing relationship with over 400 secondary schools in the country for the Teaching Practice program.  HGM Kinoo Secondary School is one of the schools within the county that has partnered with the College to offer Teaching practice opportunities for 3rd-year students pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree.
